Type and Stress

Personality type provides another model for looking at how to deal with stress in the holidays. For Thinking or Feeling and Sensing or Intuitive types, here's a quick tip sheet of "Resources and Remedies" to help manage holiday stress. 



Thinking Types

1. Take time alone to regain control 

   
2. Seek out quiet emotional support from trusted others 

3. Engage in physical activity 

4. Disengage from stressful situations 

5. Resist pervasive inner fears 


Feeling Types

1. Refocus on what is right, rather than what is wrong

2. Take time for fun and engage in relaxing activities 

3. Reflect or meditate on your personal values and priorities 

4. Talk things through with an uninvolved person 

5. Have time alone for as long as needed 


Sensing Types

1. Ignore or avoid distractions while working
2. Organize and accomplish small projects
3. Ask for help with priorities
4. Ask for help in identifying possibilities and options
5. Get away and spend time alone in a pleasant Sensing environment
   

Intuitive Types

1. Schedule in "unscheduled" time
2. Accept help with overwhelming details
3. Set boundaries
4. Plan or make lists to avoid unwelcome surprises
5. Prioritize tasks and delegate to others
