Alex Campbell holds a B.A. (Psychology and Philosophy) from UNISA, an M.A. in Spirituality from St. Louis, Missouri and an M.Ed. in Psychopedagogy from Ottawa University. Alex and his wife, Marlene, have been using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator ® (MBTI ®) since 1980 in a variety of situations across Canada - in government departments and agencies, private industry, education, health care, religious institutions and spirituality, and in individual/couple counselling situations. Their workshops have centered on communication and leadership styles, team building, transitions/change, conflict resolution, stress management as well as personal self-awareness and the basic appreciation of differences. From 1989 to mid-1993 they used the instrument with great effect in their consulting business, Campbell Training and Consulting Inc., with a focus in federal government departments and agencies. From 1993 to Feruary 2001, Alex was with the Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre in Ottawa where he was responsible for all non-clinical staff training and education as well as communications and pastoral care. In preparing for the relocation of the Perley Hospital, the Rideau Veterans Home and the chronic care wing of the National Defense Medical Centre to the new long-term care facility in 1995, his job also entailed the training of all levels of staff in change management and stress management related to the relocation. In this he used the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator as a foundational instrument. He retired from the Perley Rideau in February 2001. He is a past member of OAAPT (Ontario Association for the Application of Personality Type) board and is especially interested in the ethical use of type. Having facilitated workshops for literally thousands of people all over Canada, he has consistently found these experiences to be well accepted growth-filled and entertaining, both for himself and the participants. His type preferences are ESFJ.
