Cependant, pour les \u00e9tudiants de la ville de Vermilion, en Alberta, un programme d\u2019\u00e9valuation les aide maintenant \u00e0 mieux saisir le sens de cette question en leur offrant une appr\u00e9ciation d\u2019eux-m\u00eames.<\/p>\n<p>Le programme intitul\u00e9 \u00ab Responsabiliser la jeunesse pour demain \u00bb (Empowering Our Youth for Tomorrow) s\u2019int\u00e8gre \u00e0 un projet plus vaste, \u00ab Vermilion se responsabilise \u00bb (Vermilion Is Being Empowered) ou VIBE, ench\u00e2ss\u00e9 dans un ensemble de 38 projets de renforcement des capacit\u00e9s de sant\u00e9 mentale; ces projets sont structur\u00e9s selon les communaut\u00e9s particuli\u00e8res auxquelles ils sont destin\u00e9s, mais ils ont tous le m\u00eame objectif, soit celui d\u2019att\u00e9nuer l\u2019anxi\u00e9t\u00e9 chez les jeunes de 5 \u00e0 18 ans.<\/p>\n<p>Ce sont les \u00e9tudiants du secondaire qui souffrent le plus d\u2019anxi\u00e9t\u00e9 devant la perspective de leur avenir au-del\u00e0 du dipl\u00f4me \u00bb, pr\u00e9cise Pat Calyniuk, coordonnatrice du programme VIBE. \u00ab Ils affirment avoir besoin de quelque chose qui les aide \u00e0 prendre les d\u00e9cisions vitales \u00e0 l\u2019approche de l\u2019obtention de leurs dipl\u00f4mes. \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Le programme s\u2019articule autour de l\u2019\u00e9valuation de l\u2019Inventaire des int\u00e9r\u00eats Strong pour r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 ce besoin de d\u00e9border de l\u2019objectif du programme VIBE dont la fonction primordiale est de mettre l\u2019accent sur les techniques d\u2019\u00e9tude et l\u2019estime de soi.<\/p>\n<p>Pat Calyniuk affirme que la fiabilit\u00e9 et le record de piste de l\u2019outil Strong sont deux crit\u00e8res qui ont motiv\u00e9 ce choix; de plus, il convient bien \u00e0 la population \u00e9tudiante. \u00ab Nos d\u00e9marches doivent s\u2019appuyer sur des pratiques exemplaires \u00bb dit-elle. Nous avons choisi l\u2019\u00e9valuation Strong comme programme principal \u00e0 l\u2019intention des \u00e9tudiants de 11e et de 12e ann\u00e9e, car nous croyons qu\u2019ils en tireraient le meilleur parti. \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Elle ajoute, par ailleurs que \u00ab l\u2019outil Strong remplit une vocation essentielle, mais appel\u00e9e \u00e0 dispara\u00eetre dans des communaut\u00e9s telles que celle de Vermilion : on tend parfois \u00e0 n\u00e9gliger les carri\u00e8res au sein des petites communaut\u00e9s. Et dans plusieurs petites \u00e9coles, le nombre de conseillers en orientation a diminu\u00e9. L\u2019\u00e9valuation Strong que les \u00e9l\u00e8ves r\u00e9alisent leur offre la perspective de carri\u00e8res auxquelles ils n\u2019avaient jamais song\u00e9. \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Crystal Jackson, monitrice VIBE, travaille aupr\u00e8s d\u2019\u00e9tudiants de niveau K-12 \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cole catholique St. Jerome. Elle affirme que tous les \u00e9tudiants de 11e ann\u00e9e remplissent le questionnaire Strong en ligne d\u00e8s leur arriv\u00e9e en classe, \u00e0 l\u2019automne : ce geste leur permet d\u2019explorer les options postsecondaires ou d\u2019autres champs d\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat.<\/p>\n<p>Elle ajoute : \u00ab Certains \u00e9tudiants n\u2019ont aucune id\u00e9e de ce qu\u2019ils veulent faire; cependant, ils d\u00e9couvrent leur propre style d\u2019apprentissage et des champs d\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat rudimentaires. Quel que soit l\u2019\u00e9tudiant, il\/elle accomplit quelque chose. \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Laryssa Speck, monitrice VIBE affect\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cole publique J. R. Robson, pr\u00e9cise que la conseill\u00e8re en orientation rencontre les \u00e9tudiants de la 11e et de la 12e ann\u00e9e et les encourage \u00e0 passer le test d\u2019\u00e9valuation Strong. \u00ab L\u2019an dernier, 30 \u00e9tudiants l\u2019ont r\u00e9alis\u00e9 \u00e0 cette \u00e9cole et nous avons soumis l\u2019\u00e9valuation Strong \u00e0 65 \u00e9tudiants au total dans les deux \u00e9coles. \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Pat Calyniuk ajoute :\u00ab nous avons re\u00e7u des demandes de la part de parents, de professeurs et d\u2019\u00e9tudiants d\u2019autres \u00e9coles et d\u2019autres collectivit\u00e9s. \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Ce programme de trois ans tire \u00e0 sa fin. Il aura eu un effet positif tant sur les \u00e9tudiants que sur les moniteurs.<\/p>\n<p>Mme Speck affirme qu\u2019elle aime bien observer la transformation qui s\u2019op\u00e8re : au d\u00e9part, les jeunes sont plut\u00f4t craintifs devant l\u2019\u00e9valuation, puis ils deviennent plus anim\u00e9s lorsque l\u2019outil vient confirmer leurs int\u00e9r\u00eats : \u00ab L\u2019appr\u00e9ciation de bouche \u00e0 oreille de cet outil d\u2019\u00e9valuation de la part des jeunes a \u00e9t\u00e9 positive. Ils se posent la question : comment l\u2019outil pouvait-il savoir qui je suis et ce que j\u2019aime? \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Crystal Jackson, pour sa part, dit que l\u2019utilisation de l\u2019outil Strong lui a permis de b\u00e2tir des relations dans l\u2019\u00e9cole : \u00ab Je travaillais autrefois au service du recrutement au niveau postsecondaire. C\u2019est une bonne \u00e9bauche de conversation; c\u2019est bien agr\u00e9able de pouvoir s\u2019arr\u00eater et jaser avec un \u00e9tudiant dans le corridor. \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Mme Calyniuk ajoute :\u00ab Nous ne travaillons pas beaucoup dans le cadre du programme avec les \u00e9tudiants \u00e0 ces niveaux scolaires; l\u2019outil Strong nous offre des occasions de cr\u00e9er ce lien. \u00bb Elle cite \u00e9galement les sondages qui d\u00e9montrent que le programme respecte son objectif principal : les \u00e9tudiants, \u00e0 la quasi-unanimit\u00e9, affirment qu\u2019il r\u00e9ussit \u00e0 amoindrir leur anxi\u00e9t\u00e9 devant la question \u00ab qu\u2019est-ce qu\u2019ils veulent devenir rendus \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e2ge adulte?\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Bien que l\u2019avenir du financement de ce programme soit d\u00e9fini en janvier 2013, Mme Calyniuk confirme que 11 personnes ont \u00e9t\u00e9 accr\u00e9dit\u00e9es en vue d\u2019administrer l\u2019\u00e9valuation Strong dans chacune des \u00e9coles de Vermilion. Il est certain que le programme se prolongera au-del\u00e0 de ses cr\u00e9ateurs.<\/p>\n<p>Quelle que soit la dur\u00e9e de ce programme, il semble avoir eu un effet durable sur la vie des \u00e9tudiants. Mme Calyniuk dit ceci : \u00ab Ma fille a r\u00e9alis\u00e9 l\u2019\u00e9valuation Strong alors qu\u2019elle \u00e9tait au secondaire; elle a maintenant 20 ans, et elle examine encore ses r\u00e9sultats. \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Patricia Calyniuk<\/strong>, B.A., B. \u00c9d., B.S.
