Employee Reliability Inventory®

Screen for Reliability Before
the Interview

Bad hires cost more than just salary: time, morale, accidents, and customers can all be negatively impacted. The ERI measures seven dimensions of candidate work behaviour using 80 true/false statements, delivering immediate scores and flagged interview questions.

Available in English, French, and Spanish.

Hire Highly Reliable Candidates

The ERI identifies behavioural risk before it becomes a retention, safety, or productivity problem in your organization.

Interviews are poor predictors of reliability…

Interview impressions don’t always predict job performance. Without data, hiring teams are left relying on gut feeling.

…screen with objective behavioural data.

The ERI delivers a standardized candidate profile before the interview begins, so your team walks in knowing exactly where to focus their questions.

Turnover keeps draining your budget…

High-volume roles churn through candidates. Each departure costs recruiting fees, onboarding time, and lost productivity from the team picking up the slack.

…identify the candidates that will show up and stay.

The ERI measures job commitment and conscientiousness directly, helping you filter for candidates who are likely to be dependable over the long term.

Workplace incidents keep happening…

Safety-related costs compound quickly. Traditional screening rarely assesses safety awareness.

…flag safety risk before onboarding.

The Safety dimension identifies candidates who are more likely to follow safety protocols and be proactive about preventing on-the-job accidents.

Hiring decisions are inconsistent and biased…

Different interviewers ask different questions. Without standardized data, hiring decisions vary by location, by manager, and by mood, and bias goes unchecked.

…standardize screening with objective data.

Every recruiter can easily use ERI data to reduce the impact of bias and make the process consistent and defensible for all candidates

7 Dimensions of Work Behaviour

Conscientiousness

Does the candidate take responsibility for their work? Measures the tendency to be organized, dependable, and disciplined.

Job Commitment

Will the candidate stay with your organization? Predicts tenure and resistance to voluntary turnover.

Safety

Will the applicant follow safety protocols? Measures the probability of proactively identifying risks and avoiding on-the-job accidents.

Courtesy

Will interactions with clients and colleagues be respectful? Assesses commitment to customer service and interpersonal consideration.

Emotional Maturity

How will the candidate handle workplace stress? Predicts responsible and cooperative behaviour under pressure.

Self-Discipline

Does the candidate follow rules and maintain focus? Assesses whether outside activities will affect workplace performance and productivity.

Common Questions About the ERI

How long does it take candidates to complete the assessment?

About 10 minutes. It’s 80 true/false items that are straightforward enough for candidates to move through it quickly. Short enough that you won’t lose applicants!

What is an integrity test?

An integrity test is a specific kind of personality test designed to assess a candidate’s tendency to be honest, trustworthy, and dependable. A lack of integrity is associated with counterproductive behaviours such as theft, absenteeism, and disciplinary problems.

Integrity is strongly related to conscientiousness, which is one of the best predictors of overall job performance.

Can candidates complete the ERI on their phone?

Yes! Candidates can complete the ERI on any mobile phone, tablet, or computer. The assessment is administered online through Psychometrics.com, so there’s nothing to install or schedule.

How quickly do we get results?

Reports can be generated immediately upon completion. As soon as the candidate finishes the assessment, HR professionals can access the full candidate profile (including scores across all seven dimensions and flagged interview questions) on Psychometrics.com via computer or mobile.

Is the ERI available in languages other than English?

Yes. The ERI is available in English, French, and Spanish, supporting diverse workforces across North America.

Where was the ERI developed?

The ERI was developed by Dr. Gerald Borofsky at Harvard Medical School. The ERI Technical Manual and many validation studies confirm the tool’s psychometric properties and its ability to predict counterproductive work behaviours.
